Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) was one of the most important and influential representatives of Danish furniture design. In more than thirty years, he created a wealth of quality furniture, many pieces of which are sold as design classics to this day, for example his Spanish Chair. Influenced by traditional craftsmanship, he was also often inspired by Shaker furniture. He noted down all of his ideas immediately-whether on matchboxes, napkins, or used envelopes. This magnificent monograph examines Mogensen’s interesting approach and presents his most well known and most popular pieces of furniture. Workshop drawings, sketches, and photographs of his furniture as well as pictures from his everyday life permit fascinating insight into the world of the Danish designer, whose furniture is not only more than attractive but also one thing in particular: functional. New Zealand's Wild Weather

The drama of New Zealand’s changeable weather. Are the events we are seeing due to our changing climate?

A compelling, informative and highly illustrated series of investigations into the different types of weather events that occur in New Zealand. It covers the likes of cyclones, heat waves, snow and drought, recounting gripping eye witness accounts and explaining just what’s going on behind them all.
Popular natural history writer Gerard Hutching has found a range of people affected by diverse weather events over the decades and tells their stories, bringing these events to life – from a dairy farmer and his quad bike being lifted 5 metres into the air by a cyclone then dropped 100 metres away, to the fisheries inspector who survives a lightning strike. The science behind these extreme weather events is explained in simple accessible terms by the scientists from MetService.
And behind it all lies the big question – are these events a result of climate change? Well-known climatologist Professor James Renwick sets the scene of our changing climate and how that interacts with the wild weather that we experience here in Aotearoa.
Contents- Weather in a Changing Climate; Understanding the Weather; The Ocean and the Weather; Tropical Cyclones; Rain; Wind; Snow; Drought; Heatwaves; Storm Surge; Thunder and Lightning; Hail; Tornadoes; Fog; Frost.

The Four Elements Reflections on Nature

In The Four Elements, poet and philosopher John O’Donohue draws upon his Celtic heritage and the love of his native landscape, the west of Ireland, to weave together a tapestry of beautifully evoked images of nature. As John explores a range of themes relating to the way we live our lives today, he reveals how the energy and rhythm of the natural world – its innocence and creativity, its power and splendour – hold profound lessons for us all.

With a foreword written by his beloved brother Pat, this illuminating treasury is a unique collection of reflections inspired by the ancient wisdom of this earth.
